WHEN STANDARD CASTERS AREN'T ENOUGH
Office casters are brilliant for studios and smooth floors. But when you're rolling over XLR snakes at FOH, navigating festival carpeting, or working elevated stages with cable runs everywhere, you need wheels built for battlefield conditions. TourMax casters are what happens when you engineer casters for the harshest professional environments in the world—tours, venues, stages, and live production.
WHAT TOURMAX CASTERS DELIVER:
Here's the fundamental difference: office casters are optimized for smooth floors and precision control. TourMax casters are optimized for obstacle clearance and all-terrain mobility. When you're at FOH and there are 47 cables between you and the console, you don't want to stop and navigate around every XLR. You want wheels that crush straight over them without catching, binding, or damaging the cables. That's TourMax.
WHEN YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TOURMAX INSTEAD OF STANDARD CASTERS:
- Tour and live production: FOH positions, monitor world, stage tech—anywhere cables and uneven surfaces are standard operating conditions
- Festival and venue work: Temporary stages, carpeted control areas, outdoor surfaces where standard casters would fail
- Cable-heavy environments: Recording studios with extensive floor cabling, broadcast facilities, video production control rooms
- Carpeted floors: Control rooms, editing suites, corporate facilities where office casters drag instead of roll
- Elevated console positions: Standing-height mixing desks, lighting control positions, broadcast consoles where the extra 2" height matters
- Mobile rig configurations: Touring consoles, portable control surfaces, temporary setups that move between venues
- Uneven surfaces: Stages with cable ramps, venue floors with imperfections, anywhere standard casters catch or jam
- Heavy-duty daily use: High-traffic professional environments where casters take constant abuse and office-grade components fail fast
The TourMax casters are genuine OEM components engineered specifically for Stealth and ErgoLab chairs—not generic industrial casters retrofitted to work. The 4" × 1" wheel dimensions, double ball raceway swivel mechanism, and 7/16" × 1-3/8" grip ring stem are precisely matched to your chair's weight distribution and professional use demands. Same quality philosophy, same durability standards, same "built for decades" engineering you expect from Stealth.

THE SIMPLE DECISION:
If you work in a permanent studio or office with smooth floors, Office Casters are your choice. If you're touring, working stages, dealing with cables and varied surfaces, TourMax is essential. Many professionals own both sets and swap based on environment—studio session Monday, festival FOH Friday.
PROFESSIONAL FLEXIBILITY: Many touring professionals maintain both caster configurations. Studio work this week? Install office casters for precision control on hardwood floors. Festival run next week? Swap to TourMax for cable clearance and all-terrain mobility. The chair base accepts both configurations equally—5-minute swap, infinite adaptability. This is how professional equipment should work.
CABLE-CRUSHING CAPABILITY: THE 4" ADVANTAGE
At FOH during a festival, there might be 200+ cables running across the floor—multicore snakes, power distribution, monitor feeds, intercom lines, lighting DMX, video runs. With 2" office casters, you're constantly stopping, lifting the chair, navigating around cable bundles. Every repositioning becomes a multi-step obstacle course.
WHY 4" WHEELS MATTER FOR CABLE ENVIRONMENTS
REAL-WORLD IMPACT: At a typical FOH position during a festival, an engineer with office casters might reposition 20-30 times during a show—checking sight lines, referencing artist positions, consulting with stage managers. Every repositioning requires cable navigation. With TourMax casters, those same 20-30 moves happen without thought—just roll where you need to go. That's hundreds of hours saved over a tour or season.
TPR RUBBER TREAD: ALL-SURFACE ENGINEERING
Office casters use ABS plastic tread because it's perfect for smooth, hard floors—non-marking, low friction, silent operation. But put those same ABS wheels on carpet, textured concrete, or outdoor stages and they fail catastrophically. The plastic tread can't grip, can't flex, and provides zero traction. You're not rolling—you're dragging.
- Multi-surface grip: Rubber compounds flex and conform to surface texture
- Obstacle conformance: Soft tread deforms around cables without damage
- Vibration dampening: Absorbs shock from stage edges, cable ramps, uneven surfaces
- Temperature stability: Performs in outdoor stages (hot summer asphalt to cold winter venues)
- Load distribution: Larger contact patch reduces floor pressure points
- Durability: Resists chunking, tearing, and wear better than plastic
- Hardwood/laminate studios – smooth rolling without floor damage
- Commercial carpet – low-pile and high-pile control room carpeting
- Concrete venues – arena floors, warehouse spaces, outdoor stages
- Stage decking – Marley, plywood, composite stage materials
- Cable ramps – rolls over cable management systems without catching
- Mixed surfaces – transitions between carpet/concrete/wood without hesitation
TPR (THERMOPLASTIC RUBBER) COMPOSITION: TourMax casters use a soft black TPR tread bonded to a polyolefin core for the perfect balance of grip and structural rigidity. The TPR outer layer provides the flexibility and surface conformance needed for all-terrain mobility. The polyolefin core maintains dimensional stability under 350 lb loads. This composite construction is significantly more expensive than simple ABS plastic, but the performance difference is night and day when you leave smooth studio floors.
THE REALITY CHECK:
Try rolling office casters across commercial carpet. Now try TourMax. The difference is immediately obvious—office casters drag and bind, TourMax rolls smoothly. On tour, that difference is the gap between functional mobility and constant frustration.
DOUBLE BALL RACEWAY SWIVEL: HEAVY-DUTY ENGINEERING
The swivel mechanism is where most casters fail under professional use. Cheap casters use a single bearing raceway or simple bushing—it works for light office chairs sitting stationary. But when you're loading 350 lbs onto a chair that's constantly repositioning, pivoting, and absorbing lateral forces on tour, single-bearing designs fail fast. Wobble develops, the swivel binds, directional control degrades.
DOUBLE BALL RACEWAY DESIGN
Two independent ball bearing raceways (upper and lower) share the load and lateral forces. This distributes stress across multiple load paths instead of concentrating force on a single bearing set. The result is dramatically improved durability and zero play under professional loads.
WHAT DOUBLE BALL RACEWAY PROVIDES:
- Load distribution: 350 lb capacity shared across upper and lower bearing sets—no single point of failure
- Lateral stability: Side forces from rolling over cables or uneven surfaces handled by dual raceways without binding
- Zero play: Two bearing sets maintain precise alignment—no wobble even after years of tour abuse
- Smooth 360° rotation: Effortless swivel in any direction without catching or resistance
- Extended service life: Dual load paths mean each bearing experiences less stress—decades of professional use
- Impact resistance: Shock loads from stage edges, cable ramps, or rough handling absorbed across multiple bearing contacts
The plain bore wheel bearing in TourMax casters is hardened steel designed for continuous rotation under load. Combined with the double ball raceway swivel, you get two independent precision bearing systems—one for wheel rotation, one for swivel mechanism. This is industrial-grade construction. When tour managers are rolling chairs over cables, up ramps, across rough stages day after day, the engineering has to be bulletproof. Double ball raceway swivel is how you achieve that.
TOUR-PROVEN: WHERE TOURMAX CASTERS DOMINATE
Front of House and monitor positions feature the most cable-dense environments in live production. Multicore snakes, power distribution, monitor sends, intercom, lighting networks—all running across the floor to reach the console. TourMax casters let you roll freely without constant cable navigation. FOH engineers report that switching from office to TourMax casters is "like getting a new chair"—the mobility difference is that dramatic.
Festival sites feature temporary stages, uneven surfaces, and constantly changing cable routing. TourMax casters handle grass patches between concrete slabs, roll over cable ramps without catching, and adapt to surfaces that change hour by hour. Plus the extra 2" height helps when working elevated festival FOH positions or standing consoles. Mobility that adapts to chaos—that's the tour environment.
Lighting tech positions are surrounded by power cables, DMX networks, and data runs. TourMax casters let you move between console, paperwork, and visual references without fighting cables every move. The larger wheels also handle the cable troughs and raised flooring common in modern venues. When you're programming complex lighting cues, the last thing you need is caster frustration breaking your concentration.
Video control trucks and broadcast facilities feature extensive cable runs and mixed flooring materials. TourMax casters roll smoothly from carpeted control areas to hard floors without adjustment, handle video cables and power distribution without catching, and provide the mobility needed for multi-camera switching and production coordination. The higher working position also helps when working standing broadcast consoles.
Large format recording studios often feature major cable runs across control room floors—patchbay connections, monitor feeds, outboard gear routing. While office casters work great on clean hardwood, they struggle when you add extensive cabling. TourMax casters provide the cable clearance needed in heavily-wired recording environments. You maintain the professional aesthetic with non-marking wheels while gaining the mobility that cable-heavy studios demand.
Corporate AV technicians working installations move between carpeted boardrooms, hard floor lobbies, and staging areas throughout the day. TourMax casters handle the surface transitions seamlessly. The durability matters too—install work involves constant repositioning, equipment movement, and environmental variety that wears out office casters quickly. TourMax casters are built for the daily grind of professional AV work.
Churches and houses of worship often feature carpeted sanctuaries with elevated console positions. TourMax casters provide the all-surface capability needed for carpet while the extra height accommodates standing or elevated FOH platforms. The non-marking tread protects sanctuary flooring. Many worship tech directors prefer TourMax for the versatility—works equally well in carpeted sanctuary or hard floor fellowship hall.
INSTALLATION: GRIP RING STEM SYSTEM
Turn the chair upside down on a soft surface (carpet, blanket). Grip each existing caster wheel firmly and pull straight out with steady pressure—the grip ring compression fit releases and the caster slides free. If stubborn, wiggle slightly while pulling.
Use compressed air or a rag to clean out the five mounting sockets in the chair base. Remove accumulated dust, hair, cable debris, or gunk. Clean sockets ensure proper TourMax caster seating and secure fit.
Align each TourMax caster stem (7/16" × 1-3/8" grip ring) with a mounting socket. Push firmly straight down until you feel/hear a solid "snap" as the grip rings engage. Push firmly—the larger TourMax casters need to be fully seated to support 350 lbs safely. No twisting or threading—just straight pressure until it clicks home.
Install the one locking caster in the front center position for optimal stability control. Flip the chair upright, test all wheels for smooth rolling over cables and varied surfaces, and engage the lock mechanism to verify secure hold. Total installation time: under 5 minutes.
IMPORTANT: Height Adjustment After TourMax Installation
TourMax casters raise your working height approximately 2 inches vs office casters. If you're switching from 2" to 4" wheels, you may need to adjust your gas cylinder (shorter cylinder) to maintain optimal ergonomic positioning. The details matter when dialing in professional seating.
PRO TIP FOR TOURING PROFESSIONALS: Many tour engineers maintain both caster sets (office + TourMax) and swap based on venue requirements. Studio session with pristine hardwood? Install office casters for floor protection. Festival FOH this weekend? Swap to TourMax for cable clearance and all-terrain capability. 5-minute swap, infinite configuration flexibility. This is how professional equipment should work.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Universal fit for all Stealth and ErgoLab chair models. The 7/16" × 1-3/8" grip ring stem is the industry-standard size used across professional chair bases. These are genuine OEM TourMax casters featuring the same double ball raceway swivel, TPR rubber tread, and heavy-duty construction as casters included with Stealth Pro models. Not generic industrial casters—these are engineered specifically for professional chair applications.
LOCKING CASTER: STAGE SAFETY & POSITION SECURITY
Every TourMax set includes one locking caster that prevents both rolling AND swiveling when engaged. This isn't just convenient—it's critical safety equipment for professional environments where unwanted chair movement could be catastrophic.
CRITICAL LOCKING SCENARIOS:
- Stage & platform work: Prevent chair from rolling off elevated FOH platforms, stage edges, or riser positions
- Load-in/load-out: Lock during gear setup when you're reaching, lifting, or moving equipment around the chair
- Festival positioning: Secure FOH position on uneven ground or sloped festival sites where gravity wants to roll you downhill
- Critical mixing moments: Lock for surgical precision work—final mix approval, mastering decisions, client presentations
- Cable management work: Lock when routing cables under or around the chair to prevent accidental movement that tangles runs
- Standing transitions: Lock before standing up so the chair doesn't roll away (especially important on TourMax with enhanced mobility)
- Broadcast "hot" moments: Lock during live broadcasts or recording when any movement could cause problems
- Teaching/demonstration: Lock when showing clients, students, or colleagues console operations without chair drift
OPERATION: The locking caster uses a foot-operated brake mechanism that locks both the wheel rotation and swivel movement. Press down with your foot to engage the lock—instant position security. Press again to release for mobility. Install the locking caster in the front center position of the chair base for easiest foot access and maximum leverage. A quick toe tap is all it takes to secure your position or release for movement.
ENGINEERED FOR TOURS, BUILT TO LAST DECADES
Most chair manufacturers don't sell replacement casters because their chairs aren't designed to be serviced. When the casters wear out, they expect you to replace the entire chair. That's planned obsolescence, not professional equipment design.
WE STOCK TOURMAX CASTERS FOR THE SAME REASON WE REFURBISH CHAIRS:
Professional equipment should be built to last decades, easy to maintain, and impossible to make obsolete.
TourMax casters are genuine OEM components featuring the same double ball raceway swivel, TPR rubber tread, and heavy-duty construction as your original equipment. We don't sell cheap replacements or generic alternatives. We sell professional-grade components that match your chair's performance standards and withstand years of tour abuse.
The zinc-plated finish resists corrosion in humid venues, outdoor festivals, and coastal environments. The TPR rubber formulation maintains grip properties through temperature extremes—summer festival heat to winter venue cold. The double ball raceway swivel handles the constant shock loading of tour life—rolling over cables, up ramps, across stage edges, through load-in chaos.
5-YEAR WARRANTY • LIFETIME SUPPORT
A $75 caster replacement every 5-10 years of touring beats a $750+ chair replacement. That's the difference between professional equipment and disposable furniture.
PRO TIPS: TOURMAX MAINTENANCE FOR TOURING LIFE
Tour environments are brutal—dust, dirt, cable insulation debris, stage gunk. After major tour runs, flip the chair and clean each caster thoroughly. Use needle-nose pliers to remove hair and thread wrapped around axles. Brush out accumulated debris from the swivel mechanism. 5 minutes of maintenance extends TourMax life by years.
Before major events or tour legs, check TourMax casters for damage. Look for tread separation, cracked wheels, or binding in the swivel mechanism. A failed caster mid-show when you need mobility is unacceptable. Replace damaged casters immediately—don't wait for catastrophic failure during a critical moment.
Professional touring rigs carry spare casters. When you're 500 miles from home and a caster fails, having replacements in the truck prevents equipment downtime. TourMax casters are professional insurance—the cost of spares is nothing compared to lost productivity or gear failure during critical shows.
While TourMax handles most surfaces brilliantly, smooth studio floors don't require heavy-duty tour wheels. Many professionals swap to office casters for permanent studio work, reserving TourMax for tour and live production. Using the right caster for each environment extends the life of both caster sets and optimizes performance.

STEALTH CHAIR TECHNOLOGY
Patented engineering that actually improves your back health while you work
WHY TRADITIONAL CHAIRS DESTROY YOUR BACK
The revolutionary Stealth™ chair was designed for professional music, lighting, and video engineers who sit at different heights working at consoles, desks, and control surfaces. Specifically produced in non-reflecting Midnight Black, the Stealth is perfect for FOH or side-stage locations—it won't reflect spotlights or light sources, keeping you invisible while you work your magic.
SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN ACTION
Watch how ZenWave™ motion technology supports your body in real working positions
CRITICAL SPECS & WHY THEY MATTER
Why it matters: Stage lights, camera rigs, and console monitors won't catch reflections from your chair. Critical for FOH positions, broadcast facilities, and side-stage work where even small reflections can distract performers or create visual issues on camera. This isn't about aesthetics—it's about professional invisibility.
Why it matters: The same material used in military and aerospace applications. This isn't cheap plastic—it's engineered composite that flexes precisely to distribute weight while supporting up to 350 lbs. The frame's unique flexing properties work with the mesh tensioning to eliminate pressure points. This technology is what makes the ZenWave™ motion possible.
Why it matters: Not all mesh is created equal. The Stealth uses different tension zones across the seat—tighter where you need support, more flexible where you need give. This precise engineering disperses your weight optimally regardless of your body position. Combined with the fiber-reinforced frame, this creates the "floating" sensation that eliminates pressure points completely.
Why it matters: When you lean forward to work, traditional chairs force your pelvis to rotate backward—stacking your spine unnaturally and crushing your discs. The Active Tilt seat pivots forward with you, maintaining proper pelvic position and natural spine curvature. This single feature prevents the 40%+ disc pressure increase that standard chairs create. You can lean into marathon sessions without cumulative damage.
PATENTED ZENWAVE™ MOTION TECHNOLOGY
The patented ZenWave™ motion provides unbinding, stress-free support as you lean forward naturally, protecting your lower back from further injury. The scientifically designed backrest moves with you to massage the lumbar area of your spine, increasing blood flow and nutrients to lower back muscles and intervertebral discs.
The patented ZenWave™ motion technology allows you to float forward and backward without harmful pressure. Your body's natural movements are supported, not restricted.
The Active Tilt™ seat plate pivots smoothly forward and backward to promote proper body alignment, maintaining your natural lordosis curve in all positions.
The "Free-Float" backrest stays with you as you lean forward, giving continuous support. Unlike static backrests that abandon you when you work.
Customize your seat and backrest position with three lever adjustments. Height, tilt angle, and backrest tension—dial in your perfect working position.
Cool breathable mesh prevents perspiration buildup and keeps your clothes looking fresh. No more sweat-soaked shirts during marathon sessions.
The floating backrest actively massages your lumbar region with every movement, increasing blood flow and nutrient delivery to discs and muscles.
PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION: TRADITIONAL VS STEALTH
Traditional Office Chair
Stealth Chair with ZenWave™
These aren't theoretical numbers. Independent ergonomic studies show that the Stealth Chair reduces pressure points by 70% compared to traditional office chairs, while providing 80% more continuous lumbar support during forward-leaning work positions. The result? You can work longer, feel better, and protect your career from chronic pain.
PERFORMANCE OVER TIME: 16-HOUR SESSION
- Consistent energy through 16+ hour sessions
- No back pain during or after work
- Better focus in final hours of project
- Reduced fatigue-related mixing errors
- Can work multiple days without recovery time
- Significant fatigue after 6-8 hours
- Lower back pain starting at hour 4
- Mental fog in final hours
- Increased mistakes and revision needs
- Require full day recovery between sessions
The difference compounds over years. Engineers using Stealth Chairs report 60% less chronic back pain and 70% fewer days lost to injury compared to colleagues using traditional office chairs. Your chair is either extending your career or ending it.
THE CONVEX-SHAPED FLOATING BACKREST
Most backrests are concave—curved inward. This creates pressure points and forces unnatural posture. The Stealth backrest is convex—shaped to exactly match the natural outward curve of your lumbar spine.
Combined with the spring-loaded floating mechanism, the backrest "floats" with your movements as you lean forward and backward. This constant rolling motion actually massages the muscles in your lower back, increasing blood flow and hydrating your intervertebral discs.
The result? Your back muscles stay refreshed even during extended work sessions. Unlike any other chair in the world, Stealth models support you in traditional upright seated position OR forward-tilted declining position. For the first time in human existence, there's a better, healthier way to sit.
The convex shape matches your spine's natural curve, eliminating pressure points and providing continuous massage with every movement

ABOUT STEALTH
ABOUT STEALTH CHAIRS
Almost 40 years of engineering excellence • Trusted by the world's top studios, tours, and venues
THE PROBLEM EVERY ENGINEER FACES
Here's something they don't teach you in audio school: the wrong chair will end your career faster than bad monitoring.
Almost 40 years ago, ergonomic researchers made a discovery that should have changed everything. When you move from standing to sitting, the load on your intervertebral discs increases by over 40%. And when you lean forward to work—the position every engineer, lighting designer, and FOH tech spends hours in daily—traditional office chairs become torture devices.
"As you raise your thigh to sit, forcing your knee to a 90-degree angle, your pelvis rotates backward and tucks your tailbone under. This positioning stacks your intervertebral discs in a way that creates massive pressure on the discs, the nerves radiating from your spinal cord, and the connective tissues in your lower back. This isn't discomfort—it's cumulative trauma disorder. The kind of chronic back pain that ends careers."
— Ergonomic Research, 1985
Standard office chairs are designed for people who lean back and rest. You don't rest. You work. You lean forward over consoles. You reach for faders. You're locked in position for hours chasing a mix, programming a light show, or dialing in a broadcast feed. Every minute in the wrong chair compounds the damage.
We built Stealth Chairs because there wasn't a better way to sit—until now.
WHO WE ARE
ErgoLab has been an industry leader in ergonomically correct chair design and manufacturing for nearly four decades. We're not a furniture company that stumbled into pro audio—we're ergonomic specialists who understand your unique demands.
People are different. Not profound, but most chair manufacturers overlook this. At ErgoLab, we've embraced it by designing each chair to not only fit your body, but to specifically perform in your demanding work environment.
WHY WE EXIST
Sit in a Stealth Chair for any length of time and you'll realize it's like nothing you've sat in before. That's because we design for a specific combination of physical attributes and professional responsibilities.
Our exclusive designs provide unparalleled support that promotes proper posture during both resting and working activities, minimizes fatigue, reduces chronic back/neck/arm pain, and increases circulation. All of which help you perform at your best.
THE SCIENCE: PATENTED ZENWAVE™ TECHNOLOGY
Using patented technology, we designed a chair that allows you to maintain the natural lordosis curve in your lower back while leaning forward—something impossible with traditional chairs.
The secret? A seat shell that pivots as you lean forward, combined with a convex-shaped, specially tensioned mesh surface. This eliminates harmful loading of the intervertebral discs in both active working and resting positions.
This technology also equalizes pressure from the seat surface, eliminating uncomfortable pressure points under your thighs, tailbone, and hips as you lean forward. You'll feel like you're floating.
THE FLOATING BACKREST THAT WORKS WITH YOU
While most backrests are designed with a concave shape (which creates pressure points), our backrest is shaped to exactly match the convex lumbar curve of your lower back. Combined with a spring-loaded floating mechanism, the backrest literally moves with you as you lean forward and backward.
Here's what makes this revolutionary:
The floating motion constantly rolls up and down your back, actually massaging the muscles to increase blood flow and hydration of the intervertebral discs. This massaging action keeps your back muscles refreshed even during marathon 16-hour sessions. Your back gets better as the day goes on, not worse.
Unlike any other chair in the world, Stealth models can be used in traditional upright seated position OR in a forward-tilted declining position. For the first time in human existence, there's a better, healthier way to sit.
