CHAIR GLIDES (SET OF 5)

Professional stationary positioning for stage, studio & performance • Non-marking glide surface • Controlled movement vs free-rolling • Floor protection • Stage safety • Universal compatibility

WHEN WHEELS ARE A LIABILITY, NOT AN ASSET

Casters are brilliant for mobility—until you need your chair to stay exactly where you put it. On stages where a rolling chair could mean catastrophe. In studios with pristine hardwood floors that show every scuff mark. During performances where your seating position is fixed and wheels just create instability. Chair glides solve the problems that casters create in stationary professional environments.

WHAT CHAIR GLIDES DELIVER:

Stationary Stability: Chair stays exactly where positioned—won't roll away on stages, slopes, or during performances
Controlled Gliding: Smooth movement when you push deliberately—no unexpected rolling or drifting
Floor Protection: Non-marking material preserves expensive hardwood, stage surfaces, and studio floors
Stage Safety: Eliminates risk of chair rolling into equipment, off platforms, or during performances
Silent Operation: No caster noise—critical for recording studios, broadcast environments, and live performance
Easy Swapping: Convert between casters and glides in under 5 minutes—adapt your chair to different environments instantly

Here's the fundamental difference: casters are optimized for movement, glides are optimized for stability with controlled repositioning capability. Casters roll at the slightest force—lean back, and your chair drifts. Sit on a slope, and your chair creeps downhill. Work on stage, and your chair can roll into expensive equipment or off platforms. Glides create friction that prevents unintentional movement while still allowing deliberate repositioning when you push.

WHEN YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED GLIDES INSTEAD OF CASTERS:

  • Stage & performance work: Performers, musicians, vocalists who need rock-solid seating that won't roll during the show
  • Instrument playing: Guitar, bass, drums, keyboards—any playing position where casters create instability or unexpected movement
  • Sloped surfaces: Stages with rake, uneven floors, platforms where casters would constantly drift or roll
  • High-end floor protection: Studios with expensive hardwood, stages with pristine surfaces that must remain unmarked
  • Fixed positions: Lighting design, video control, broadcast positions where the chair must stay exactly where positioned
  • Recording environments: Eliminate caster noise that bleeds into microphones during tracking sessions
  • Cable-heavy setups: Areas with extensive floor cabling where rolling casters could snag or damage cables
  • Safety-critical environments: Anywhere a rolling chair could create hazards—elevated platforms, proximity to equipment, stage edges

The Stealth Chair Glides are genuine OEM components—not generic furniture glides retrofitted to work. These are engineered specifically for Stealth and ErgoLab chairs, with materials and dimensions matched to the chair's weight distribution and professional use demands. Same quality standards, same durability philosophy, same "built to last decades" engineering.

CASTERS vs GLIDES: CHOOSING THE RIGHT BASE

Both are professional-grade. The difference is mobility vs stability.

CASTERS vs GLIDES COMPARISON
CASTERS
FREE MOBILITY
GLIDES
CONTROLLED STABILITY
MOVEMENT:
Roll freely in all directions
Minimal force required
Continuous mobility
MOVEMENT:
Stays put until pushed
Deliberate force required
Controlled repositioning
IDEAL FOR:
• Console work (frequent movement)
• Multi-position workflows
• Large workspaces
• Constant repositioning needs
IDEAL FOR:
• Stage & performance
• Instrument playing
• Fixed positions
• Floor protection priority
STABILITY:
Chair can drift or roll unintentionally on slopes or with movement
STABILITY:
Chair stays exactly where positioned until deliberately moved
FLOOR IMPACT:
Can leave scuff marks on soft floors; minimal floor contact friction
FLOOR IMPACT:
Non-marking material protects expensive floors and stage surfaces
NOISE LEVEL:
Caster rolling noise audible, especially on hard floors
NOISE LEVEL:
Silent operation—critical for recording and performance
STAGE USE:
Requires locking casters or physical barriers to prevent rolling
STAGE USE:
Inherently safe—won't roll off platforms or into equipment

THE SIMPLE DECISION:
If you need to move frequently during work (console engineers, multi-position workflows), casters are ideal. If you need your chair to stay exactly where positioned (performers, stage work, instrument playing, floor protection priority), glides are essential. The best part? You can own both and swap in under 5 minutes based on your current environment.

PROFESSIONAL FLEXIBILITY: Many touring professionals and multi-use facilities maintain both caster sets and glide sets. Studio session? Install casters for console mobility. Stage performance that night? Swap to glides for stability and floor protection. The chair base accepts both configurations equally—5-minute swap with standard tools, infinite configuration flexibility. This is how professional equipment should work.

FLOOR PROTECTION: NON-MARKING MATERIAL SCIENCE

Stage floors cost $15-30 per square foot installed. Studio hardwood runs $8-15 per square foot. High-end performance venues have specialty flooring that costs even more. Protecting these surfaces isn't optional—it's a cost-of-business necessity. Chair glides with non-marking material prevent the scuffs, scratches, and discoloration that metal caster stems or cheap plastic glides create.

NON-MARKING MATERIAL
  • Soft polymer composition — won't scratch, scuff, or mark floors
  • Color-stable formulation — no pigment transfer to light-colored floors
  • Abrasion-resistant surface — maintains properties through years of gliding
  • Chemical-neutral — won't react with floor finishes or stage coatings
CONTROLLED
CONTROLLED FRICTION
  • Optimized coefficient of friction — stays put but glides when pushed
  • Smooth gliding motion — repositioning doesn't require excessive force
  • Directional stability — won't slide sideways or drift unintentionally
  • Weight-responsive — more resistance with user seated, easier when empty

MATERIAL ENGINEERING: The glide material is formulated to balance two competing requirements: soft enough to protect floors, firm enough to support chair weight without deformation. Too soft, and the glides compress flat, creating excessive friction or chair instability. Too hard, and they mar expensive flooring. The Stealth Chair Glides use a polymer composition engineered for this exact balance—years of professional use on stages, studios, and performance venues without marking floors or degrading performance.

REAL-WORLD SCENARIOS WHERE GLIDES ARE ESSENTIAL

STAGE PERFORMERS & MUSICIANS:

You're performing on a raked stage (sloped toward audience for sightlines). A chair on casters would constantly drift downstage—you'd spend the performance fighting to keep your seating position. Chair glides create enough friction to stay put on the slope while still allowing you to reposition between songs if needed. Performers using Stealth Chairs on stage always use glides—it's not optional, it's the only configuration that works safely.

INSTRUMENT PLAYERS (GUITAR, BASS, DRUMS):

Playing an instrument requires a stable platform that doesn't shift as you move. Guitar and bass players lean into their playing, creating lateral forces. Drummers push against the floor with their feet for pedal control. Casters turn these natural playing movements into chair drift, forcing you to constantly reposition instead of focusing on performance. Glides provide the rock-solid stability that serious instrument playing demands.

RECORDING STUDIO TRACKING ROOMS:

Caster noise is acoustic poison during tracking sessions. Every time an engineer shifts position, the rolling casters create floor noise that bleeds into sensitive condenser microphones. Glides eliminate this problem entirely—silent repositioning means cleaner recordings. High-end studios with pristine acoustic environments use glides for this exact reason. When you're recording a $3,000-per-day session, caster noise is unacceptable.

LIGHTING DESIGN & PROGRAMMING:

You're programming lighting at tech position—surrounded by expensive lighting consoles, power distribution, cable runs. A rolling chair is a hazard waiting to happen. Roll backward into a dimmer rack. Drift sideways into cable bundles. Accidentally roll off the tech platform edge. Glides eliminate all these risks—your chair stays exactly where you position it, even during intensive programming sessions where you're constantly shifting focus between console, paperwork, and visual references.

BROADCAST & VIDEO CONTROL:

Broadcast control rooms feature extensive cable management under raised floors or cable troughs. Casters can catch cables, snag on cable covers, or roll over carefully routed wiring. Glides glide smoothly over cable pathways without catching or snagging. Plus, the silent operation means no rolling noise during live broadcasts—critical when multiple crew members are moving during live production.

HIGH-END STUDIO FLOOR PROTECTION:

You've invested $50,000+ in pristine hardwood flooring for your studio. Every scuff mark, scratch, or rolling trail reduces the studio's professional appearance and resale value. Chair glides with non-marking material protect this investment—years of daily use without floor damage. When clients are paying premium rates, your studio environment needs to reflect that premium positioning. Scuffed floors from cheap casters don't communicate "world-class facility."

PERFORMER SERIES STEALTH STOOL:

The Performer Stealth Stool is specifically designed for stage and performance use—and almost always configured with glides instead of casters. Performers need stability, not mobility. The saddle-style seat combined with glides creates a rock-solid platform for vocals, acoustic instruments, or stationary performance positions. Casters on a performer stool would be actively dangerous—glides are the professional standard.

INSTALLATION & SWAPPING BETWEEN CASTERS/GLIDES

Simple installation takes under 5 minutes—standard tools, no special skills required

INSTALLING GLIDES (REMOVING CASTERS)
1
Flip chair upside down or tilt to access base

Place the chair on a soft surface (carpet, blanket) to protect the seat during the swap. You need clear access to the 5 caster mounting points on the base.

2
Remove existing casters

Standard casters use grip-ring stems that pull straight out with firm force. Grasp the caster wheel and pull directly away from the base—it should release with moderate pressure. If stuck, gently wiggle while pulling. Remove all 5 casters and set aside (keep them for future use).

3
Insert chair glides into mounting holes

Chair glides use the same grip-ring stem system as casters. Align the glide stem with the mounting hole and push firmly straight in until it seats completely. You'll feel/hear a slight click or pop when the grip ring engages. Push firmly—the glide needs to be fully seated to support chair weight safely.

4
Install remaining glides and test stability

Install all 5 glides using the same process. Once all glides are installed, flip the chair upright and test stability—push down on the seat to ensure all glides are properly seated and supporting weight evenly. Total swap time: under 5 minutes.

SWAPPING BACK TO CASTERS:

The process reverses identically. Pull out glides (save them for future use), push in casters. The beauty of grip-ring stems is infinite swapping with no degradation—you can swap between glides and casters hundreds of times without wearing out the mounting system. Many professionals maintain both configurations and swap based on current work environment. Studio session tomorrow? Install casters. Stage performance this weekend? Swap to glides. 5 minutes, no tools, infinite flexibility.

PROFESSIONAL TIP:
Store your unused casters or glides in a designated container (ziplock bag, small box). Label it clearly. When you need to swap, you'll have the components ready instead of hunting through storage. Some touring professionals tape a spare set to the underside of their road case for instant field swapping.

The revolutionary Stealth™ chair was designed for professional music, lighting, and video engineers who sit at different heights working at consoles, desks, and control surfaces. Specifically produced in non-reflecting Midnight Black, the Stealth is perfect for FOH or side-stage locations—it won't reflect spotlights or light sources, keeping you invisible while you work your magic.

SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN ACTION

Watch how ZenWave™ motion technology supports your body in real working positions

CRITICAL SPECS & WHY THEY MATTER

MIDNIGHT BLACK NON-REFLECTIVE
Powder-coated finish

Why it matters: Stage lights, camera rigs, and console monitors won't catch reflections from your chair. Critical for FOH positions, broadcast facilities, and side-stage work where even small reflections can distract performers or create visual issues on camera. This isn't about aesthetics—it's about professional invisibility.

HIGH-STRENGTH FIBER-REINFORCED FRAME
Aerospace-grade materials

Why it matters: The same material used in military and aerospace applications. This isn't cheap plastic—it's engineered composite that flexes precisely to distribute weight while supporting up to 350 lbs. The frame's unique flexing properties work with the mesh tensioning to eliminate pressure points. This technology is what makes the ZenWave™ motion possible.

VARIABLE TENSION MESH SYSTEM
Zone-specific engineering

Why it matters: Not all mesh is created equal. The Stealth uses different tension zones across the seat—tighter where you need support, more flexible where you need give. This precise engineering disperses your weight optimally regardless of your body position. Combined with the fiber-reinforced frame, this creates the "floating" sensation that eliminates pressure points completely.

ACTIVE TILT™ SEAT PLATE
Patented pivot mechanism

Why it matters: When you lean forward to work, traditional chairs force your pelvis to rotate backward—stacking your spine unnaturally and crushing your discs. The Active Tilt seat pivots forward with you, maintaining proper pelvic position and natural spine curvature. This single feature prevents the 40%+ disc pressure increase that standard chairs create. You can lean into marathon sessions without cumulative damage.

PATENTED ZENWAVE™ MOTION TECHNOLOGY

The patented ZenWave™ motion provides unbinding, stress-free support as you lean forward naturally, protecting your lower back from further injury. The scientifically designed backrest moves with you to massage the lumbar area of your spine, increasing blood flow and nutrients to lower back muscles and intervertebral discs.

LIKE FLOATING ON WATER

The patented ZenWave™ motion technology allows you to float forward and backward without harmful pressure. Your body's natural movements are supported, not restricted.

ALIGN YOUR SPINE

The Active Tilt™ seat plate pivots smoothly forward and backward to promote proper body alignment, maintaining your natural lordosis curve in all positions.

FEEL SUPPORTED

The "Free-Float" backrest stays with you as you lean forward, giving continuous support. Unlike static backrests that abandon you when you work.

LEVER 1 LEVER 2
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT

Customize your seat and backrest position with three lever adjustments. Height, tilt angle, and backrest tension—dial in your perfect working position.

BREATHE EASY

Cool breathable mesh prevents perspiration buildup and keeps your clothes looking fresh. No more sweat-soaked shirts during marathon sessions.

MASSAGE & HEALING

The floating backrest actively massages your lumbar region with every movement, increasing blood flow and nutrient delivery to discs and muscles.

THE CONVEX-SHAPED FLOATING BACKREST

Most backrests are concave—curved inward. This creates pressure points and forces unnatural posture. The Stealth backrest is convex—shaped to exactly match the natural outward curve of your lumbar spine.

Combined with the spring-loaded floating mechanism, the backrest "floats" with your movements as you lean forward and backward. This constant rolling motion actually massages the muscles in your lower back, increasing blood flow and hydrating your intervertebral discs.

The result? Your back muscles stay refreshed even during extended work sessions. Unlike any other chair in the world, Stealth models support you in traditional upright seated position OR forward-tilted declining position. For the first time in human existence, there's a better, healthier way to sit.

ABOUT STEALTH

Stealth ErgoLab

ABOUT STEALTH CHAIRS

Almost 40 years of engineering excellence • Trusted by the world's top studios, tours, and venues

THE PROBLEM EVERY ENGINEER FACES

Here's something they don't teach you in audio school: the wrong chair will end your career faster than bad monitoring.

Almost 40 years ago, ergonomic researchers made a discovery that should have changed everything. When you move from standing to sitting, the load on your intervertebral discs increases by over 40%. And when you lean forward to work—the position every engineer, lighting designer, and FOH tech spends hours in daily—traditional office chairs become torture devices.

"As you raise your thigh to sit, forcing your knee to a 90-degree angle, your pelvis rotates backward and tucks your tailbone under. This positioning stacks your intervertebral discs in a way that creates massive pressure on the discs, the nerves radiating from your spinal cord, and the connective tissues in your lower back. This isn't discomfort—it's cumulative trauma disorder. The kind of chronic back pain that ends careers."

— Ergonomic Research, 1985

Standard office chairs are designed for people who lean back and rest. You don't rest. You work. You lean forward over consoles. You reach for faders. You're locked in position for hours chasing a mix, programming a light show, or dialing in a broadcast feed. Every minute in the wrong chair compounds the damage.

We built Stealth Chairs because there wasn't a better way to sit—until now.

WHO WE ARE

ErgoLab has been an industry leader in ergonomically correct chair design and manufacturing for nearly four decades. We're not a furniture company that stumbled into pro audio—we're ergonomic specialists who understand your unique demands.

People are different. Not profound, but most chair manufacturers overlook this. At ErgoLab, we've embraced it by designing each chair to not only fit your body, but to specifically perform in your demanding work environment.

WHY WE EXIST

Sit in a Stealth Chair for any length of time and you'll realize it's like nothing you've sat in before. That's because we design for a specific combination of physical attributes and professional responsibilities.

Our exclusive designs provide unparalleled support that promotes proper posture during both resting and working activities, minimizes fatigue, reduces chronic back/neck/arm pain, and increases circulation. All of which help you perform at your best.

THE SCIENCE: PATENTED ZENWAVE™ TECHNOLOGY

ZenWave Technology Diagram

Using patented technology, we designed a chair that allows you to maintain the natural lordosis curve in your lower back while leaning forward—something impossible with traditional chairs.

The secret? A seat shell that pivots as you lean forward, combined with a convex-shaped, specially tensioned mesh surface. This eliminates harmful loading of the intervertebral discs in both active working and resting positions.

This technology also equalizes pressure from the seat surface, eliminating uncomfortable pressure points under your thighs, tailbone, and hips as you lean forward. You'll feel like you're floating.

THE FLOATING BACKREST THAT WORKS WITH YOU

While most backrests are designed with a concave shape (which creates pressure points), our backrest is shaped to exactly match the convex lumbar curve of your lower back. Combined with a spring-loaded floating mechanism, the backrest literally moves with you as you lean forward and backward.

Here's what makes this revolutionary:

The floating motion constantly rolls up and down your back, actually massaging the muscles to increase blood flow and hydration of the intervertebral discs. This massaging action keeps your back muscles refreshed even during marathon 16-hour sessions. Your back gets better as the day goes on, not worse.

Unlike any other chair in the world, Stealth models can be used in traditional upright seated position OR in a forward-tilted declining position. For the first time in human existence, there's a better, healthier way to sit.
