Audio Engineer Chairs for Mixing, Recording & Mastering
Twelve-hour mix sessions and sixteen-hour tracking days keep you in the sweet spot, leaning toward the console to reach EQ, ride faders and adjust sends. Traditional ergonomic chairs are designed for upright keyboard work, so the moment you lean in, they stop supporting you — and the pressure lands on your lower back, hips and tailbone.
Stealth started at the mixing console. The patented ZenWave seat pivots as you lean toward the near-fields, and the Free-Float backrest stays with you when you sit back to listen — so the chair supports the way engineers actually work.
Why engineers choose Stealth
- Patented ZenWave forward-lean seat built for the mix position
- Free-Float backrest that follows you from leaning in to listening back
- Two piston heights included, plus an X-Tall option and footring for high consoles
- No headrest, and tool-free removable 4D arms for clearance at the desk
- 400 lb capacity, 5-year warranty, every part replaceable — ships within 48 business hours

Mix Engineers
Long sessions at an analog console or DAW controller, leaned in to make moves. Support that follows the lean instead of fighting it.

Critical listening and precise edits, with lumbar support whether you're leaned in or sitting back.
Producers & Studio Owners
Home, project and commercial rooms — including control rooms shared by several engineers.
A Studio Chair That Moves the Way You Mix
- Lean in to make a move. The ZenWave seat pivots forward as you reach for the console, so your lower back keeps its natural curve.
- Sit back to listen. The Free-Float backrest stays in contact when you recline for playback. See how Free-Float works.
- Height for any console. Every chair comes with two piston heights — a desk height and a taller height for high consoles. For standing-height positions, add the X-Tall cylinder and the adjustable footring.
- Clearance when you need it. Tool-free 4D arms adjust or come off, and there's no headrest to get in the way. Here's why.
- Silent in the control room. No creaks or squeaks by design — and if one ever shows up, our squeak fix guide takes a few minutes.

Audio Engineer Chair FAQ
Why do audio engineers need a different chair?
Mixing is forward-lean work. Most office chairs only support you upright or reclined, so your lower back carries the load every time you reach for the console. Stealth's seat pivots with you as you lean in.
Will it reach my console height?
Every chair includes two piston heights. For standing-height consoles, add the X-Tall cylinder and an adjustable footring.
Does it have a headrest?
No, on purpose. Engineers spend most of a session leaned forward, where a headrest does nothing — and it would block sightlines in the room.
How fast do chairs ship?
Chairs ship from Nashville, TN or Centennial, CO within 48 business hours of your order. Shipping cost is quoted at checkout.
