REPLACEMENT ARM REST KNOB
Star-grip design • Stainless steel threaded • Arms adjustment & removal • Stealth/ErgoLab exclusive
PRECISION CONTROL FOR ARM POSITIONING
This isn't just a knob. It's the adjustment mechanism that controls your arm position—and in professional environments where you're reaching across consoles for hours, arm positioning is critical. The star knob design allows you to adjust arm width, remove arms entirely for space-constrained setups, or dial in exact arm placement for optimal forearm support.
WHAT THIS KNOB CONTROLS:
The five-point star design is ergonomic engineering, not decoration. Five contact points distributed around the circumference give your fingers maximum grip surface and leverage. Compare this to a round knob (which your hand slips on) or a wing nut (which only provides two contact points). The star knob lets you generate serious tightening torque with just your fingers.
WHEN YOU NEED REPLACEMENT KNOBS:
- Lost during transport: Small parts get separated during tour load-in/out or chair moves between rooms
- Cross-threaded damage: Forcing a misaligned knob damages the threads, making it impossible to tighten properly
- Stripped plastic: Over-tightening or impact damage cracks the star grip, reducing leverage
- Missing from used chairs: Bought a used Stealth Chair missing arm hardware—need knobs to complete the setup
- Preventive spares: Touring professionals keep spare knobs in road cases for field replacement
- Wear from frequent adjustment: Engineers who adjust arms daily eventually wear the threads or grip surface
- Upgrade from older models: Earlier ErgoLab chairs may have had different knob designs—standardize with current hardware
Here's what most people don't realize: arm positioning directly impacts shoulder and neck strain. When your arms are too wide, you're constantly reaching outward—creating tension in your shoulders and upper back. Too narrow, and you're cramped, limiting your range of motion. The knob gives you infinite adjustment within the arm travel range. Dial it in exactly where your body needs it.
FIVE-POINT STAR DESIGN: MAXIMUM LEVERAGE
WHY FIVE POINTS MATTERS:
This isn't over-engineering. It's functional design based on how hands actually work. Round knobs slip when you try to tighten them firmly. Wing nuts concentrate force on two points, making them uncomfortable to use and prone to cracking. The five-point star is the optimal balance between grip surface, leverage, and material strength. It's the same reason star-drive screws exist—better torque transfer with less tool wear.
STAINLESS STEEL THREADS: ENGINEERED FOR LONGEVITY
The knob body is molded plastic—lightweight and comfortable to grip. But the threaded insert is stainless steel. This is critical engineering. Plastic threads would strip after a few tightening cycles. Steel threads maintain integrity through thousands of adjustment cycles without degradation.
WHY STAINLESS STEEL:
- Thread durability: Stainless steel resists wear, galling, and deformation under repeated tightening/loosening cycles
- Corrosion resistance: Won't rust in humid studios or outdoor venues—maintains smooth threading indefinitely
- Material compatibility: Matches the steel receiver threads in the arm assembly—dissimilar metals can cause galvanic corrosion
- Strength under load: Steel threads handle the clamping force needed to secure arms without stripping or failing
- Precise tolerances: Machined steel threads maintain tighter tolerances than molded plastic, ensuring smooth operation
COMPATIBILITY CRITICAL:
These knobs use Stealth/ErgoLab-specific thread pitch and diameter. They will NOT work with generic office chair arms. The threading is precision-matched to our arm assemblies—attempting to use generic replacement knobs will result in cross-threading, poor fit, and potential damage to your chair's arm mechanism.
This is why we stock genuine OEM replacement parts. Generic "universal" chair knobs don't exist—each manufacturer uses different thread specifications. Using the wrong knob damages your chair. Using the correct knob maintains the precision engineering that makes Stealth Chairs work properly.
ADJUSTMENT & INSTALLATION GUIDE
Grip the star knob firmly with all five fingers and turn counter-clockwise (lefty-loosey). You don't need to fully remove it—just loosen enough that the arm can slide freely on its track.
Move the arm inward (toward chair center) or outward (toward edge) along its adjustment track. Test the position by placing your forearm on the armrest pad—optimal position supports your forearm without forcing your shoulders out of neutral alignment.
Turn the knob clockwise (righty-tighty) until snug. The star design gives you plenty of leverage to create a firm, secure connection. Hand-tight is sufficient—you don't need gorilla strength, just firm, even pressure across all five grip points.
Turn the star knob counter-clockwise until it completely unthreads from the arm assembly. Keep turning until the knob separates from the arm bracket. Store the knob safely—small parts get lost easily.
With the knob removed, the arm assembly can lift off its mounting bracket. Some engineers prefer armless configuration for maximum console reach or tight control room spaces.
To reinstall arms, align the arm assembly with the mounting bracket, slide into position, and thread the knob back in. The stainless steel threads make reinstallation smooth and secure even after multiple removal cycles.
CROSS-THREADING WARNING:
Always align the knob carefully before threading. If you feel significant resistance when starting to thread the knob, STOP. Back it out and realign. Cross-threading damages both the knob threads and the receiver threads in the arm assembly. Starting the thread correctly takes an extra 5 seconds. Repairing cross-threaded hardware takes hours and costs money.
PROFESSIONAL USE CASES
Different consoles require different arm positions. Working at a compact home studio rig, you might want arms narrower for tight quarters. At a large-format SSL, you need arms wider for extended reach. The knob lets you reconfigure instantly without tools or permanent modifications.
Some engineers prefer working without armrests entirely—using the console surface for forearm support instead. Remove both arm assemblies by unthreading the knobs, and you've got a compact, unobstructed chair perfect for tight control rooms or mobile rigs.
Different venues have different FOH setups. The knob lets you adapt your chair configuration on load-in. Carry spare knobs in your road case—when a knob goes missing during transport (and it will), you've got immediate replacement without delaying setup.
If you need to service the arm mechanism, replace armrest pads, or upgrade to padded paddle arms, the knob makes disassembly straightforward. No special tools, no permanent fasteners—just unthread and you're in.
PRO TIPS: KNOB CARE & USAGE
Hand-tight is sufficient. The star design gives you plenty of leverage, but you don't need to crank it down with maximum force. Over-tightening stresses the threads and can crack the plastic knob body. Firm and snug beats gorilla-tight.
These knobs are small, black, and easy to lose during load-in/out. If you tour with your chair, keep 2-4 spare knobs in your road case. At $10.99 each, they're cheap insurance against setup delays when a knob goes missing.
Vibration and dynamic loads can gradually loosen the knobs over time. Every few weeks, give each knob a quick check—if it's loose, snug it back up. Takes 10 seconds, prevents arms from slipping mid-session.
If you remove arms for armless configuration, store the knobs with the arm assemblies—not separately. Small parts get lost. Thread the knobs onto the arm brackets for storage, even when not installed on the chair. This keeps everything together and prevents thread damage.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
ONLY compatible with Stealth and ErgoLab chair models. This is a precision-engineered component with proprietary thread specifications that match our arm assembly receivers. This knob will NOT work with other chair brands—the thread pitch and diameter are Stealth/ErgoLab exclusive. Using generic replacement knobs from office supply stores will result in poor fit, cross-threading, and potential damage to your chair's arm mechanism. Always use genuine OEM replacement parts.
SMALL PARTS, BIG IMPORTANCE
A $10.99 knob shouldn't be the reason your $750 chair is unusable. But that's exactly what happens when small parts go missing and replacements aren't available. Most chair manufacturers don't sell individual replacement knobs. When you lose one, they tell you to buy a whole new arm assembly for $100+. Or a whole new chair.
We stock individual replacement knobs because professional equipment should never become obsolete due to a missing $11 part.
This is serviceability by design. When a small component fails or goes missing, you replace that component—not the entire assembly.
These knobs feature the same five-point star design, stainless steel threading, and precision manufacturing as your original equipment. We don't sell cheap substitutes. We sell genuine OEM parts that maintain your chair's performance and longevity.
This represents our core philosophy: professional equipment should be built to last, easy to maintain, and impossible to make obsolete. When you invest in a Stealth Chair, you're not just buying furniture—you're buying equipment that can be maintained, serviced, and kept in perfect working order for decades. One knob at a time, if necessary.

STEALTH CHAIR TECHNOLOGY
Patented engineering that actually improves your back health while you work
WHY TRADITIONAL CHAIRS DESTROY YOUR BACK
The revolutionary Stealth™ chair was designed for professional music, lighting, and video engineers who sit at different heights working at consoles, desks, and control surfaces. Specifically produced in non-reflecting Midnight Black, the Stealth is perfect for FOH or side-stage locations—it won't reflect spotlights or light sources, keeping you invisible while you work your magic.
SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN ACTION
Watch how ZenWave™ motion technology supports your body in real working positions
CRITICAL SPECS & WHY THEY MATTER
Why it matters: Stage lights, camera rigs, and console monitors won't catch reflections from your chair. Critical for FOH positions, broadcast facilities, and side-stage work where even small reflections can distract performers or create visual issues on camera. This isn't about aesthetics—it's about professional invisibility.
Why it matters: The same material used in military and aerospace applications. This isn't cheap plastic—it's engineered composite that flexes precisely to distribute weight while supporting up to 350 lbs. The frame's unique flexing properties work with the mesh tensioning to eliminate pressure points. This technology is what makes the ZenWave™ motion possible.
Why it matters: Not all mesh is created equal. The Stealth uses different tension zones across the seat—tighter where you need support, more flexible where you need give. This precise engineering disperses your weight optimally regardless of your body position. Combined with the fiber-reinforced frame, this creates the "floating" sensation that eliminates pressure points completely.
Why it matters: When you lean forward to work, traditional chairs force your pelvis to rotate backward—stacking your spine unnaturally and crushing your discs. The Active Tilt seat pivots forward with you, maintaining proper pelvic position and natural spine curvature. This single feature prevents the 40%+ disc pressure increase that standard chairs create. You can lean into marathon sessions without cumulative damage.
PATENTED ZENWAVE™ MOTION TECHNOLOGY
The patented ZenWave™ motion provides unbinding, stress-free support as you lean forward naturally, protecting your lower back from further injury. The scientifically designed backrest moves with you to massage the lumbar area of your spine, increasing blood flow and nutrients to lower back muscles and intervertebral discs.
The patented ZenWave™ motion technology allows you to float forward and backward without harmful pressure. Your body's natural movements are supported, not restricted.
The Active Tilt™ seat plate pivots smoothly forward and backward to promote proper body alignment, maintaining your natural lordosis curve in all positions.
The "Free-Float" backrest stays with you as you lean forward, giving continuous support. Unlike static backrests that abandon you when you work.
Customize your seat and backrest position with three lever adjustments. Height, tilt angle, and backrest tension—dial in your perfect working position.
Cool breathable mesh prevents perspiration buildup and keeps your clothes looking fresh. No more sweat-soaked shirts during marathon sessions.
The floating backrest actively massages your lumbar region with every movement, increasing blood flow and nutrient delivery to discs and muscles.
PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION: TRADITIONAL VS STEALTH
Traditional Office Chair
Stealth Chair with ZenWave™
These aren't theoretical numbers. Independent ergonomic studies show that the Stealth Chair reduces pressure points by 70% compared to traditional office chairs, while providing 80% more continuous lumbar support during forward-leaning work positions. The result? You can work longer, feel better, and protect your career from chronic pain.
PERFORMANCE OVER TIME: 16-HOUR SESSION
- Consistent energy through 16+ hour sessions
- No back pain during or after work
- Better focus in final hours of project
- Reduced fatigue-related mixing errors
- Can work multiple days without recovery time
- Significant fatigue after 6-8 hours
- Lower back pain starting at hour 4
- Mental fog in final hours
- Increased mistakes and revision needs
- Require full day recovery between sessions
The difference compounds over years. Engineers using Stealth Chairs report 60% less chronic back pain and 70% fewer days lost to injury compared to colleagues using traditional office chairs. Your chair is either extending your career or ending it.
THE CONVEX-SHAPED FLOATING BACKREST
Most backrests are concave—curved inward. This creates pressure points and forces unnatural posture. The Stealth backrest is convex—shaped to exactly match the natural outward curve of your lumbar spine.
Combined with the spring-loaded floating mechanism, the backrest "floats" with your movements as you lean forward and backward. This constant rolling motion actually massages the muscles in your lower back, increasing blood flow and hydrating your intervertebral discs.
The result? Your back muscles stay refreshed even during extended work sessions. Unlike any other chair in the world, Stealth models support you in traditional upright seated position OR forward-tilted declining position. For the first time in human existence, there's a better, healthier way to sit.
The convex shape matches your spine's natural curve, eliminating pressure points and providing continuous massage with every movement

ABOUT STEALTH
ABOUT STEALTH CHAIRS
Almost 40 years of engineering excellence • Trusted by the world's top studios, tours, and venues
THE PROBLEM EVERY ENGINEER FACES
Here's something they don't teach you in audio school: the wrong chair will end your career faster than bad monitoring.
Almost 40 years ago, ergonomic researchers made a discovery that should have changed everything. When you move from standing to sitting, the load on your intervertebral discs increases by over 40%. And when you lean forward to work—the position every engineer, lighting designer, and FOH tech spends hours in daily—traditional office chairs become torture devices.
"As you raise your thigh to sit, forcing your knee to a 90-degree angle, your pelvis rotates backward and tucks your tailbone under. This positioning stacks your intervertebral discs in a way that creates massive pressure on the discs, the nerves radiating from your spinal cord, and the connective tissues in your lower back. This isn't discomfort—it's cumulative trauma disorder. The kind of chronic back pain that ends careers."
— Ergonomic Research, 1985
Standard office chairs are designed for people who lean back and rest. You don't rest. You work. You lean forward over consoles. You reach for faders. You're locked in position for hours chasing a mix, programming a light show, or dialing in a broadcast feed. Every minute in the wrong chair compounds the damage.
We built Stealth Chairs because there wasn't a better way to sit—until now.
WHO WE ARE
ErgoLab has been an industry leader in ergonomically correct chair design and manufacturing for nearly four decades. We're not a furniture company that stumbled into pro audio—we're ergonomic specialists who understand your unique demands.
People are different. Not profound, but most chair manufacturers overlook this. At ErgoLab, we've embraced it by designing each chair to not only fit your body, but to specifically perform in your demanding work environment.
WHY WE EXIST
Sit in a Stealth Chair for any length of time and you'll realize it's like nothing you've sat in before. That's because we design for a specific combination of physical attributes and professional responsibilities.
Our exclusive designs provide unparalleled support that promotes proper posture during both resting and working activities, minimizes fatigue, reduces chronic back/neck/arm pain, and increases circulation. All of which help you perform at your best.
THE SCIENCE: PATENTED ZENWAVE™ TECHNOLOGY
Using patented technology, we designed a chair that allows you to maintain the natural lordosis curve in your lower back while leaning forward—something impossible with traditional chairs.
The secret? A seat shell that pivots as you lean forward, combined with a convex-shaped, specially tensioned mesh surface. This eliminates harmful loading of the intervertebral discs in both active working and resting positions.
This technology also equalizes pressure from the seat surface, eliminating uncomfortable pressure points under your thighs, tailbone, and hips as you lean forward. You'll feel like you're floating.
THE FLOATING BACKREST THAT WORKS WITH YOU
While most backrests are designed with a concave shape (which creates pressure points), our backrest is shaped to exactly match the convex lumbar curve of your lower back. Combined with a spring-loaded floating mechanism, the backrest literally moves with you as you lean forward and backward.
Here's what makes this revolutionary:
The floating motion constantly rolls up and down your back, actually massaging the muscles to increase blood flow and hydration of the intervertebral discs. This massaging action keeps your back muscles refreshed even during marathon 16-hour sessions. Your back gets better as the day goes on, not worse.
Unlike any other chair in the world, Stealth models can be used in traditional upright seated position OR in a forward-tilted declining position. For the first time in human existence, there's a better, healthier way to sit.
